A man convicted of murdering two Austin cab drivers in 1990 was spared the death penalty Friday.

The jury found that it is not probable that, Alberto Garcia, 43, would commit future criminal acts of violence that constitute a continuing threat to society.

With the jury's decision, the judge sentenced Garcia to life in prison.

In December of 1990, Eleazar Hinojosa, 57, was found fatally shot in his cab. Two days later, John Parrish, 41, was fatally shot and police found his body inside the truck of his cab.
