Within political circles, the talk Thursday continued to be about the speech delivered by Alaska Governor Sara Palin, Republican presidential candidate John McCain's choice to be vice president.
Here's what some newcomers to the political process had to say about the Vice Presidential nominee's official public debut.
It was hailed as the most important speech of Sara Palin's political career.
Little did Palin know newcomers to the political process were among the millions of Americans who were watching.
"The speech - do you guys think - do we know her better from the speech last evening?”, asks Associate Professor of Political Science Brian Smith.
His class at St. Edward's University were analyzing her every word and nuance. It evolved into a lively discussion with some students applauding Palin for pointing out her accomplishments as Governor of Alaska.
"And how she got rid of their private jet and their cook and stuff like that I like that," said Samantha Aitken.
Others gave Palin points for having her entire family present, including her pregnant 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, and her boyfriend.
"I think the fact that her family was there to support her last night definitely was more helping her than anything because it shows that they're strong and they can get through all of this and they're like any other American family," said Jardin Telling.
"At the end of the day do you guys think she's ready to step up and be Vice President if something does happens to John McCain?", asks Smith.
And it's that question that's not so easy to answer based on Palin's speech. Instead, the class members are ready to listen to at least one more speech.
"I will definitely be listening tonight to McCain. I'm excited to hear what he has to say," said Telling.
These college students expect to be well-versed before making a final decision in November.
