Austin fans remember Vaughan on anniversary of death

Austin music fans are remembering Stevie Ray Vaughan Wednesday, 18 years after his death. Known for his fiery guitar playing, Vaughan rose from the Austin club scene to international stardom.

He died in a helicopter crash near east Troy, Wisconsin on August 27, 1990. He had just finished playing a concert with Eric Clapton and his brother, Jimmie.
In 1994 the City of Austin dedicated a statue of Vaughan along Auditorium Shores.
Wednesday, fans left flowers there honoring the late guitarist.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2000.
