An Austin woman has accomplished an amazing feat --Lynne Smith, 39, has completed an icy cold swim in the English Channel in less than 10 hours.

The 9 hour, 50 minute swim is the fastest solo swim in those waters so far this year.

Smith is manager at Dell Computer. She's been training as many as six or seven hours a day for the last two years, with many early morning, chilly swims in Lake Austin and Barton Springs pool.

Smith is a veteran athlete and has four Ironman triathlons under her belt.
