Williamson County deputy shoots man during disturbance
06:03 PM CDT on Wednesday, August 13, 2008
A man is in the hospital after being shot by a Williamson County deputy.
It happened just before noon Wednesday at a home on West Esparada Street -- just west of the Georgetown Airport.
Deputies were called to the home for a family disturbance.
They say 82-year-old Clarence Ruther raised a rifle and aimed it at a deputy.
The deputy fired three times -- hitting Ruther once in the groin.
Ruther is in stable condition at Brackenridge Hospital.
The deputy is on paid administrative duty while the case is under investigation.
