Austin attorney sentenced for child porn
03:40 PM CDT on Monday, August 13, 2007
An Austin man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession of child pornography.
U.S. District Judge Lee Yakel sentenced Douglas Michael Stum, 43, to 120 months in federal prison, according to federal officials. After he's released, he'll be supervised for 10 years and will have to register as a sex offender.
Stum, a successful Austin attorney, pleaded guilty in April to the charges. He admitted to contacting a New York man over the Internet in 2004 so he could trade child pornography. His computers were seized by FBI agents in 2006 and they found more than 1,000 images of child pornography.
“From the outside, Mr. Stum appeared to be a successful Austin attorney but behind closed doors he was downloading and viewing images of children being abused in the most horrific ways,” stated U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton in a news release.
