Round Rock cub scouts have an out of this world experience
07:56 PM CDT on Saturday, July 5, 2008
Some Round Rock cub scouts had an out of this world experience Friday, when they spoke with an astronaut orbiting around the Earth on the International Space Station.
The Austin Amateur Radio Club worked with NASA to arrange the talk, which was held in the cafeteria of the Blackland Prairie Elementary School in Round Rock.
The scouts asked astronaut Gregory Chamitoff questions such as whether he was afraid to travel into space, what he does with his spare time, and what school subjects are helpful to him in his profession.
Chamitoff said he was excited but not afraid to fly into space and said he gets bored while onboard the space station. He said sleeping aboard the station is some of the best sleep he’s ever had.
