Three Central Texas men and an East Texas man accused of working together in a check cashing scheme have been sentenced in federal court.
The men, who pleaded guilty to the charges, were accused of downloading account numbers from a financial data company that used to employ one of the men, then passing fake checks to Austin area retail stores.
At least 11 financial institutions and 62 accounts were victimized in the scheme, according to authorities.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Steven Bradley Davis, 43, of Hutto, was sentenced Monday to six years in prison after he was convicted on charges of unlawful access to a protected computer and aggravated identity theft.
Robert Lloyd Taylor, 31, of Round Rock, Adrian Eralio Carreon, 33, of Cedar Park, and William Timothy Evans, 46, of Tyler were each sentenced to two years in prison for identity theft.
They were each ordered to pay more than $391,000 in restitution.
