Changes made to Travis County polling places

05:56 PM CDT on Thursday, June 12, 2008

by KVUE News

Travis County voters received a reminder Thursday about changes to numerous precinct polling places for Election Day, June 14.

Dana DeBeauvoir, Travis County Clerk, encouraged voters to head to the polls Saturday, but urged voters to double-check their polling locations.

“We have been working to make sure that voters know about polling place changes by posting notices at polling places that are being moved to a new site for this election,” said DeBeauvoir.

Eligible Travis County voters have the opportunity to cast a ballot in the runoff election for the Austin's City Council Place 4 and the postponed Manor Independent School District Board Trustee Election.

“In an effort to save tax dollars, we have worked with the City of Austin and Manor ISD to reduce the number of Election Day polling locations while ensuring that convenient options remain for all voters,” DeBeauvoir said.

In addition to notices posted at polling places that are being moved for the June 14 election, there will be an advertisement in the Austin American-Statesman on Election Day with the full precinct listing.

Voters must be registered to vote and reside in either Austin or the Manor school district to be eligible to vote in these elections. Eligible voters may participate in the Austin runoff election, even if they did not vote in the original election on May 10.
