It's called Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker. This actual air guitar uses a special belt buckle and amplifier to let you play rock anthems from Black Sabbath, Van Halen and other bands and lets you jam to some original freestyle riffs.

For this Does It Work, we stop by the Austin School of Music. Its founder, Dave Sebree, really is one of Austin's guitar heroes. He's played with everyone from Double Trouble, to Van Wilkes, Eric Johnson and the list goes on.

He's the perfect person to help us see if this does it work strikes a sour note.

Here's how it works -- you connect the wire to the tiny amp, then connect it to the special air guitar rocker belt buckle. Attach them to your pants, and use the magnetic guitar pics to start strumming.

Soon Dave is playing, but things don't sound quite right.

Dave tries a few more songs... and I try as well.

It's difficult to play the air guitar rocker. The songs all sound disjointed and weird.

I don't think either one of us will win an air guitar competition anytime soon. At least not with this.

"Rhythmically you can't move the pic like you would if you were playing air guitar. If they just wanted to play air guitar, I say put on the stereo and play some air guitar," Sebree said.

He gives the Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker... a thumbs down.
