You can get some exercise and support a good cause with the third annual
5K Run/Walk for Rachel.
It will be Saturday, May 15 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. The
event begins at 8 a.m.
The competitive run and non-competitive run/walk honors Rachel Cooke, an
accomplished cross-country runner. She disappeared January 10, 2002,
while on her daily four-mile run near her Georgetown home.
The site was especially chosen by the Cooke family because Rachel
competed there three times a year with the cross-country team at
Georgetown High School.
All proceeds from the $20 registration fee go to the Rachel Alert
Network, or RAN, which promotes public safety and supports families of
missing persons.
The Run/Walk is the organization's primary source of income. The $20
entry fee gets you a t-shirt and food from Applebee's and Round Rock
Donuts.
