Severe weather hits Central Texas
10:41 PM CDT on Friday, April 25, 2008
Tornado-producing storms ripped through Bell County leaving baseball sized hail and damage behind.
There were five tornado touchdowns reported in the area according to Bell County Sheriff's Dept. The first touchdown was confirmed by radar near Morgan’s Point. Another tornado landed in the vicinity of the Belton Wal-Mart, but no homes or businesses were reported damaged.
Bell County Sheriff’s Department also reported a tornado crossing Holland’s Main Street, but again, no major damage was reported.
Despite not having much tornado damage, heavy rains, hail stones, and lightning made conditions hazardous.
The storm followed a southwestern course and entered the Williamson County area at 7:15 p.m. with signs of weakening. By the time it entered Travis County the tornado warning had expired, though a severe thunderstorm warning was still in effect.
