A popular park in North Austin is at the center of controversy once
again Thursday.
The Lower Colorado River Authoritiy is holding a meeting Thursday night.
LCRA authorities will tell residents living near the Gracy Woods
subdivision what to expect during a major tree cutting and trimming at
the park set for next week.
Many people living in the area are upset that trees dating back to the
1940s are going to be cut down.
However the LCRA says the trees are too close to power lines and pose a
safety hazard.
A group of neighbors plans to present a petition to save the trees at
the meeting at River Oaks Elementary School. It is located on 12401
Scofield Farms in North Austin.
