Police search for man charged with sexually assaulting 15-year-old
11:49 PM CST on Friday, March 3, 2006
Thursday night, police are looking for a man they say drugged and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl. The girl was assaulted last October after spending a Friday night with friends. Police said a 29-year-old acquaintance, Arthur Ortiz, slipped a drug into the girl’s drink at a fast food Mexican food restaurant. The girl said she blacked out, and cannot remember what happened later that evening. Doctors at St. David’s confirmed the girl was sexually assaulted and a drug was found in her system. After hearing results from the hospital Police had very little to identify the suspect - Ortiz’s first name and a tattoo that read “ATX Capital City.” Police have tried using information about the tattoo and a database that tracks identifying markers on people police come to know. Police charged Ortiz when the drug used in the assault was identified as Xanax. Xanax is a prescription drug used to treat anxiety disorders. Overdose symptoms include drowsiness, confusion and loss of consciousness.
