Watson endorses Obama for president

04:18 PM CST on Tuesday, February 12, 2008

KVUE News

As Hillary Clinton arrives in Texas for a two-day trip, Barack Obama is picking up new support.

Texas State Senator Kirk Watson (D-Austin) announced his endorsement of Obama Tuesday morning.

"He has demonstrated an ability to energize base voters, but also an ability to bring in new voters who have not necessarily participated before," Watson said.

Watson says he will travel the state to campaign for Obama. He previously supported John Edwards.

Texas delegates are awarded by state senate districts.

Watson's Travis County district has more democratic delegates than anywhere else in Texas.
