Vietnam vets memorial planned for State Capitol
05:21 PM CST on Thursday, January 31, 2008
Plans are underway to put a Vietnam veterans' monument on the State Capitol grounds.
Veterans joined state leaders Thursday in kicking off fundraising to make the monument a reality.
The monument will be a tribute to both fallen and surviving veterans of the war. Lucy Johnson helped host the monument's kick off event at the LBJ Library.
Veterans say they're pleased to see the tribute, but they're sorry it took so long.
The monument is expected to be completed by May of 2010.
