Austin police are investigating the city's first bank robbery of the year.
APD
Austin police released this surveillance photo of the suspect.
It happened Wednesday afternoon at the Chase bank branch in the 9900 block of North Lamar. Investigators say a man demanded money from a teller and ran north on Lamar.
Police say the area is busy at that time of day and hope witnesses call in.
"Those are our hopes that somebody did see something that they thought was maybe suspicious and after seeing this think, 'Oh, hey that might be related' and want to call it in and give that information, and hopefully we'll be able to solve this one," said Veneza Aguinaga, Austin Police Department.
Police say the man is described as Hispanic with a dark complexion, 5'4" to 5'6" tall and weighing 150 to 160 pounds. He has short gray and dark hair and has a mustache.
