New program helps AISD students plan for future

Austin Community College and the Austin Independent School District are teaming up to give more students a chance at a college education.

It's the new College Connection Partnership.

The goal is to help high school students understand the process of college enrollment and help them apply in the first place.

A conference at Travis High School on Thursday morning detailed the plans of the college connection.

ACC and AISD want to provide an easier transition to college and higher education.

They plan on doing that by educating the students more about the enrollment process and the benefits of college.

The program will visit schools and set up workshops to help with things like applications, financial aid and academic advising -- all before stepping out of high school.
