Man taken into custody after South Austin SWAT call

AUSTIN – A man has been taken into custody after a "gun urgent" call and subsequent SWAT call Monday morning.

Austin police said they were called to the 2300 block of Durwood Street, which is near South First and Oltorf Streets, around 7:50 a.m. Nov. 13. Police said a woman was able to exit the residence, but a man barricaded himself inside.

Due to the possibility of a weapon, APD said SWAT was called to assist and several apartments were evacuated.

Additional information on the man and any potential charges he may face were not available as of 12:45 p.m.
