Sound on Sound Fest 2017 canceled due to 'recent roadblocks'

The popular music festival Sound on Sound Fest has been canceled this year, festival officials announced Friday.

In a statement, officials said that the festival was canceled "due to several recent roadblocks outside of our control."

The festival was scheduled for Nov. 10-12 at Sherwood Forest in McDade, which is about 35 miles east of Austin. Performers included the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grizzly Bear, Iggy Pop, The Shins and many more.

Organizers said that all ticket holders will receive full refunds. The refund process has already been initiated for those who purchased their tickets through the Eventbrite website. Ticket holders should expect to receive their refunds within the next five to seven business days.

Anyone who bought a physical ticket should email info@soundonsoundfest.com for a refund.

In the statement, organizers said they are in the process of rescheduling the majority of the artists who were supposed to play at the festival to other venues in the area. Fans who purchased tickets to Sound on Sound Fest will have first access to those shows, according to the statement. Announcements regarding those shows should follow on Monday, Oct. 16 and run through Thursday, Oct. 19 at 8 a.m. when the public sale is scheduled to begin.

"This is one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make," the statement said. "We truly love our fans. We appreciate you sticking by us while we work hard to make this right."
