San Marcos band Blue October holding benefit show for family of fallen officer

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS - According to a post on the band's verified Instagram account, San Marcos rock band Blue October will be holding a benefit show for fallen San Marcos Police Officer Kenneth Copeland's family.

The post states that the band will perform an acoustic show to help raise money for Copeland's family on Dec. 21 at The Marc in San Marcos.

"Officer Copeland was an amazing man and was unfortunately taken from us in the line of duty," the band's Justin Furstenfeld states. "My father was a police officer for the Houston police dept. and this hits home and cuts deeply in my heart."

Officer Copeland was killed in an ambush-style shooting on Dec. 4 while serving a warrant on his day off in San Marcos. He was the first San Marcos officer to be killed in the line of duty.

"I am honored to be a part of this amazing gift from our community to his family," Furstenfield wrote. "Tickets go on sale through the Marc and every single dollar made goes directly to the family."

Tickets range from $15 to $100 and can be purchased here.
