Round Rock police investigating attempted child abduction

Police investigate attempted kidnapping

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS - Police in Round Rock are warning residents as they investigate an attempt to abduct a child near Old Town Elementary School Tuesday morning.

According to the City of Round Rock, a child said he was approached by several men in a newer model silver-colored four-door truck. The men -- who are described as white and in their 20s or 30s -- told the child to get inside, but the child refused and continued on his bicycle to school.

When the child got to school at around 8 a.m., he described what happened to a teacher, who then called police.

Here is a map which shows the approximate location of the attempted abduction:

As police investigate, they encourage parents to talk to their children about what to do in case a stranger approaches them. They are encouraged to run away, go to a safe place and tell an adult, who can then call police.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Round Rock police at 512-218-5500 or Williamson County Crime Stroppers at 800-253-7867.
