Round Rock Express tips their caps to St. David's newborns

The Round Rock Express is drafting a new generation of baseball fans -- newborn babies at St. David's.

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS - They may be just a little too young to take out to the ball game just yet, but that's not stopping the Round Rock Express from drafting this new generation of baseball fans.

Through a partnership with St. David's Round Rock Medical Center announced Tuesday, the Express said all newborn babies born at the hospital will be welcomed into the world with a white newborn cap printed with the words "The Newest Round Rock Express Fan" in either baby blue or light pink.

"We’re thrilled to partner with St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center and give new parents in Round Rock a sweet memento from their hometown team,” said Express Senior Vice President of Marketing Laura Fragoso. “We hope this can be the first of many wonderful memories that the Round Rock Express and St. David’s make with these families. My daughter was born there and I know from personal experience what great care their labor and delivery team offer. We thought this would be another special touch that we could add to the remarkable service they already provide.”

The minor league baseball team said the newborn cap program is an extension of a growing partnership between the Express and St. David's HealthCare to welcome families to the Dell Diamond.

This isn't the first time the two companies have partnered together. Earlier this season, they introduced the Lactation Station, a private, air-conditioned room for nursing mothers located in the left-field corner of the stadium.

“We are proud to team up with the Express on this initiative,” said Jeremy Barclay, chief executive officer of St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center. “Welcoming a new baby is an exciting time for any family and we are looking forward to making it that much more special with these new welcome gifts. Dell Diamond is such a family-friendly space and it will be fun to see these St. David’s babies out at the stadium for years to come.”

Parents have been encouraged to share photos of their new arrivals using the hashtag #ExpressBabies.

The Express hopes to see a crowd of fresh new faces at the opening of their 2018 season on April 5 against the Memphis Redbirds in Round Rock.
