AUSTIN - A Travis County judge has denied a motion by state Rep. Dawnna Dukes (D-Austin) to dismiss four of the felony charges against her.
According to KVUE’s partners at the Austin American-Statesman, Judge Brad Urrutia made a brief written ruling on a motion filed March 8 to dismiss four of the 13 felony charges against her.
“Having considered the evidence presented, the argument of counsel, and the applicable law, defendant’s motion is denied,” Urrutia said in his ruling.
Dukes’ attorneys argued that an agreement she signed in September 2016 to waive the statute of limitations on the four counts of tampering with public records was invalid for technical reasons. Those charges relate to travel reimbursement forms Dukes submitted for days she allegedly did not travel to the Capitol.
