MANOR, TEXAS - The Manor Alternative Placement (MAP) campus and Manor Excel Academy were placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after one student allegedly attacked the school principal.

According to Manor ISD, the fight broke out on the MAP campus, which is a program for students who've violated the MISD student code of conduct and whose offense is beyond the realm of the home campus.

Manor Police Sgt. Craig Struble told KVUE the fight started around 1:10 p.m. Wednesday after the principal told a student identified as Osifo Cameron,17, that he was not allowed on the bus.

Officials said it turned physical after the principal tried to talk Cameron down after he got upset. Cameron, however, allegedly pushed him back and began throwing punches at the principal. By the time police arrived, the staff had detained the student. While police were at the scene, Struble said five other students joined the fray and were arrested.

As a precaution, police locked down Manor Excel Academy, which houses MAP, for 30 minutes while police worked to get everything under control.

Struble added the principal is doing okay and suffered minor injuries.

Manor police warned students it's not in their best interest to interfere with police work and they could even create bigger problems.

"Let us handle it, try to stay out of it. I know you might be upset because your friend is going jail but by you getting upset and getting arrested -  it's only going to cause your friends to get upset and it kind of snowballs into five students getting arrested when it should have been just one student," said Struble.

School officials did state that all campuses are safe and classes resumed. The school district is assisting Manor police and the Travis County Sheriff's office with the ongoing investigation.
