UT student identified as moped driver killed in head-on crash with bus

Police have identified Jane-Nancy David, a 21-year-old UT student, as the woman who died in the Moped crash on Manor road Monday night.

AUSTIN - A University of Texas student was identified as the woman killed after her moped collided with a school bus in central east Austin Monday, April 17.

Police said Jane Nancy David, 21, was driving a 2009 Yamaha in the 3700 block of Manor Road around 7:19 p.m.

For some unknown reason, police said David swerved into the northbound lanes of Manor Road and hit a 1999 yellow GMC head-on, officials said. The school bus is a personally owned vehicle and is not affiliated with any organization, police said.

Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services declared David deceased at the scene.

Tuesday, David's sorority sisters from Texas Chi Omega confirmed her death in a Facebook post. They said she was a member of their 2014 pledge class.

The crash is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-6935.
