Police searching for man who attacked jogger at Austin High School

Austin police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect in a recent assault case.

APD said that around 5 a.m. on Aug. 22, a woman was jogging on the track at Austin High School. After she jogged several laps, she was grabbed "bear hug" style from behind and the suspect tried to put a cloth over her mouth.

After a struggle, the victim was able to run away and call police. She described the suspect as a white man in his mid-40s, about 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a medium build, weighing about 215 pounds. He has broad shoulders, tan skin and unkempt, medium-length brown hair with no body or facial hair. The suspect was last seen wearing no shirt with shorts and work boots.

The suspect was driving a dark green or blue older model small car with white stripes on the passenger of the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call 512-974-5095 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS. You can also submit information with the Crime Stoppers app or APD's mobile app on iPhone or Android
