Police respond to Lowe's parking lot stabbing in New Braunfels

NEW BRAUNFELS, TEXAS - A man was arrested Thursday after allegedly stabbing another man in a Lowe's parking lot in New Braunfels, police said.

The New Braunfels Police department reported 39-year-old Darren Frederick Nevares of San Marcos was arrested after he allegedly stabbed a 44-year-old male victim in the abdomen.

Police said they received the called to the Lowe's in the 1400 block of Interstate Highway 35 around 4:45 p.m., where they found the victim with a single stab wound. The injury was considered serious but not life threatening and the man was transported to the San Antonio Military Medical Center for treatment.

A witness to the stabbing relayed a description of the suspect, his vehicle and the direction he traveled, police said, and officials located him within a few minutes still inside a red Ford Mustang in a parking lot in the 1400 block of I-35 North. 

Officials said a felony traffic stop was initiated, the suspect was arrested without incident and transferred to the Comal County Jail, where he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. 

Nevares had an arrest warrant out of Bexar County for bond forfeiture stemming from a previous possession of marijuana arrest, police said.
