Police: Man exposed himself, chased two girls near Central Austin elementary school

A man is in jail after he exposed himself and chased two girls near a Central Austin elementary school, according to police.

Samuel Santos, 32, was charged with Indecency with a Child by Exposure, a third-degree felony.

According to an arrest affidavit, police were called to Lee Elementary School, located at 3308 Hampton Road, on Aug. 15 on reports of a man exposing himself to children.

Two girls said Santos was walking behind them near the school. When they turned around, the girls said Santos was erect and touching himself while exposed. The girls ran toward the school, where Santos chased them with his penis still exposed, the girls' parents told police.

The girls reached the school and told the nearest adult what allegedly happened. Santos also reached the school, where he asked a staff member for a cigarette before he fled the area, according to the affidavit.

Police found Santos sitting on the front steps of a building not far from the school in the 3300 block of Harris Park Drive. He matched the description of the man who had exposed himself, so police asked if he had been at the school.

"Yes, I was there asking for a cigarette," Santos told police, according to the affidavit.

Santos was booked into the Travis County Jail for Indecency with a Child by Exposure, a third-degree felony.
