AUSTIN - Authorities have identified the man who died from a gunshot wound early Saturday morning in northeast Austin.
Austin police said Alexander Macias-Garcia, 20, was found in the 200 block of Wells Branch Parkway around 3 a.m. Oct. 15. APD said officers were dispatched in reference to a possible collision. The passenger in the vehicle - who had been found lying on the ground - was taken to Round Rock Medical Center with minor injuries. Macias-Garcia was driving the vehicle and died shortly after 3:30 a.m., police said.
Austin/Travis County EMS, Pflugerville Police and the Travis County Sheriff's Office also responded to the crash.
Police are searching for a suspect, but a description has not been released as of noon Monday. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the APD Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS.
