AUSTIN - The Austin Police Department said Friday that personal motorized watercraft will be banned on Lake Austin for the duration of Labor Day weekend.
The ban will start at sunset on Friday, Sept. 2, and will end at sunrise on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The ban includes jet skis, water bikes, motorized surfboards and similar devices. Non-motorized devices such as kayaks, canoes and paddleboards will still be allowed.
APD said that the ban only applies to Lake Austin and will help ensure the safety of those on the water over the holiday weekend.
Police will be patrolling the water over the weekend.
