Paddleboarders go pink for SUP it UP for CANCER event

To help raise money for cancer research, paddleboarders took to Lady Bird Lake for the SUP it UP for CANCER event.

AUSTIN - Sunday marked the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which explains why you may have seen a plethora of pink people paddling around Lady Bird Lake.

Paddleboarders donned pink as they hit the waters for the SUP it UP for CANCER event, a fundraiser and awareness event for the Breast Cancer Resource Center, which supports women afflicted by the disease.

While Sunday marked the first day of the event, organizers plan to make it an annual gathering. This year, the event also hosted an after party at Threadgill's with prizes awarded to the top three fundraisers.

BCRC claims to be the only nonprofit organization in Central Texas focusing its services solely on those affected by breast cancer. More information on BCRC can be found here, and SUP it UP for CANCER here.
