Alcohol believed to be factor in head-on crash that killed 2

AUSTIN - Austin police said Tuesday that the man who was critically injured in a head-on crash along State Highway 130 Saturday has died, bringing the death total to two.

And Austin police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash that killed Robert Castillo Escobar, 42, and Abel Luna, 38.

According to the Austin Police Department, a gray 2006 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of SH 130 at around 3:09 a.m. Saturday when the driver struck a white Toyota 4Runner that was going southbound in the southbound lanes of SH 130.

The driver of the Corolla, Escobar, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the 4Runner, Luna, was taken to St. David's South Austin Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Police have not said yet who was driving the two cars.

APD are still investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call 512-974-8255.
