North America’s first surf park announced Wednesday that it will open for its 2017 season on May 12.
NLand, located along Texas 71 near Del Valle, first opened in October 2016 but ran into problems a few weeks in that required it to close for repairs to the lagoon.
“Spearheading innovative technology is not for the faint of heart,” said Doug Coors, NLand’s Founder and CEO in a prepared statement. “The response from the global surf community has been humbling and we are eager to showcase our updated lagoon and amenities for 2017.”
The park said it has reconfigured the lagoon with three waves for surfers, made alterations to the shores for better spectating and added an area for boogie boarders. The facility also has a surf school, locally-sourced restaurant and surf shop.
“We designed the park to be an inclusive experience so surfers of all levels can experience the waves together while enjoying a delicious meal, original shopping, and fabulous views from our beach, the Pier and the Overlook,” Coors added.
