Motorcyclist killed in Cedar Park crash identified

CEDAR PARK - The motorcyclist who died after he ran over a rock and was ejected from his motorcycle in Cedar Park Sunday evening has been identified as Christopher Ray Burnett of Austin.

According to police, just before 4 p.m. Burnett, 28, was traveling northbound on Anderson Mill near Zappa Drive at a high rate of speed.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the man was wearing a helmet, but he may not have been as familiar with the motorcycle. The man and his friend, who was riding alongside him, apparently switched motorcycles before they started driving, police confirmed.

There's still no word if alcohol or drugs played a factor, pending an autopsy report.

As investigators continue to look into the crash, Anderson Mill Drive from Zappa Drive to Lime Creek will be reduced to one lane in each direction. On Thursday at 10 a.m., investigators will reconstruct the crash.
