More than 500 dogs run 5K in Austin

AUSTIN - Outdoor Voices kicked off their first dog jog in Austin on Sunday.

“It's blown way past my expectations,” said Tyler Haney, the Outdoor Voices Founder. “On a meter of one to 10 of fun, it's way past 10.”

More than 500 pups and their owners walked or ran the 5K benefiting Austin Pets Alive!

People started off the day with some stretching and then followed three runners, dressed in cat costumes, through the Lions Municipal Golf Course.

“I think if you're a dog lover or even if you just like to watch dogs on Instagram, you're in heaven here,” said Anna Speckhart, one of the participants. “There hasn't been one incident that I've seen. It's a bunch of people taking photos of their dogs, loving their dogs, getting free treats, and really just out for a good cause.”

The race also had a tail-gate where people could pamper their pets, take pictures, eat food, and listen to music.

There was also an adoption tent on-site for people to adopt a new furry friend.
