AUSTIN - If you're planning on getting out and enjoying the cooler weather this weekend in Austin, you might want to take extra care to avoid MoPac.
According to a report from our news partners at the Austin American-Statesman, a lane on the east side of the highway through different stretches of the toll lane construction project will be closed from Friday evening to early Monday morning. Additionally, the southbound entrance ramp at RM 2222 and the southbound exit ramp at West 45th Street will also be closed, leaving two out of the three primary lanes on each side functioning.
Overnight closures will include the middle southbound lane from RM 2222 to West 45th Street, which leaves a single southbound lane available until morning, the Statesman reported. These closures will be in effect from 8 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday; and from 7 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.
Heading northbound, the left lane closest to the median will be closed all weekend, leaving two lanes open to drivers. This includes overnight, according to the Statesman.
So whether you're heading to watch some Longhorn football or hitting Zilker Park this weekend, you may want to consider a different route.
