Matthew McConaughey gives UT students a lift

AUSTIN - It was like a scene straight out of Dazed and Confused -- minus the long hair and the stench of weed.

When a group of University of Texas students recently asked for a ride home through the campus' "SURE Walk" program, they got the surprise of a lifetime when Austin legend Matthew McConaughey rolled up in a golf cart.

SURE Walk, the student-run group that started as a buddy walk program in order to get students home safely, has recently expanded to offer rides on golf carts. And McConaughey sure likes them, apparently.

In a Facebook post from the UT Student Government Monday night, McConaughey -- a UT grad and professor -- is seen gripping the wheel of the golf cart with four grinning passengers.

"Longhorns take care of each other, and it's 'safe' to say Matthew McConaughey agrees," the post read. "Don't forget to use SURE Walk when traveling home late at night; you never know who might pick you up!"
