Martindale bookkeeper charged with stealing from city

MARTINDALE, Texas -- The city of Martindale’s bookkeeper has been charged with theft by public servant after she allegedly stole $20,000 from the city.

According to KVUE’s partners at the Austin American-Statesman, Lynette Ruiz has been charged with a third-degree felony. Her attorney told the Caldwell County District Attorney’s Office that she will willingly turn herself in on Friday.

The alleged theft came to light during a heated city council meeting that drew more than 125 people, the Statesman reported. TAP HERE to read more.
