Man who escaped from Del Valle halfway house captured in Harris County

TEXAS - A man who was previously convicted of murder and absconded from a halfway house in Del Valle was found and captured in Harris County April 14, according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Billy Wayne Gilliland, 58, was given a life sentence for murder in Liberty County in the 1980s, but was released on parole in March 2014. He was living in a halfway house in Del Valle until he absconded in October 2016. He was put on the Texas 10 Most Wanted list with a criminal history that also included burglary and drug charges.

Gilliland, a member of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas gang, was captured as a result of a tip. That tipster will receive a reward of up to $7,500.
