AUSTIN - A man has been charged after police said he intentionally rammed his car into his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle with a child inside Monday afternoon.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim was exiting an apartment complex driving southbound on Cameron Road around 4 p.m. with three passengers, including a passenger’s child, when the victim recognized her ex-boyfriend, Joe Quintero, driving into the apartment complex she was exiting.
The victim said at the time she didn’t see Quintero turn around and follow her until he pulled up behind her car shortly after on Cameron Road.
Quintero then pulled up on the rear of the driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle and allegedly rammed his car into hers.
The victim said she attempted to flee Quintero by creating distance between the two cars and this is when she called the police.
Quintero was able to catch up to the victim’s car and she said he struck her car again. The victim said it was at this time she feared for her life.
During their five-month relationship the victim reported Quintero breaking her rib and other acts of violence.
Quintero is currently in Travis County Jail with a bond of $20,000. He also is restricted from contacting the victim and must stay 200 feet away from her.
