Local boy's BBQ sauce served in AISD cafeterias

Austin boy, 12, creates his own BBQ sauce

AUSTIN - An Austin ISD student's life is about to get a lot spicier as he is well on his way to becoming a BBQ sauce mogul.

12-year-old Carter Hull handed out samples of his 'CarterQue' sauce on top of chicken during lunch Thursday at Murchison Middle School in Northwest Austin.

Hull has experimented with making his own marinades and sauces before. In fact, he  was a competitor in a kid's barbecue competition on the Food Network. Now, his special 'CarterQue' blend of ingredients will be served in all Austin ISD cafeterias.

"This is the first time it's been served outside of my immediate family so this is really exciting for me," Hull said.

The sauce seemed to be a big success with his classmates, who lined up to get a sample.
