AUSTIN – A local activist has filed an appeal after his civil rights lawsuit against the Austin Police Department and several of its officers was dismissed.
The appeal was filed by Antonio Buehler's attorneys in District Court Tuesday.
Buehler, head of the Peaceful Streets Project, was arrested in 2013 for filming officers during events he described as police abuse.
He filed a lawsuit later that year, claiming police violated his civil rights when they arrested him.
A federal judge dismissed the lawsuit Feb. 21.
