Large power outage in S. Austin after vehicle collides with pole

AUSTIN - More than 1,000 people are without power Sunday morning after a vehicle crashed into a light pole off of South 1st Street near Oltorf Street in South Austin, according to the Austin Police Department.

The crash happened in the 2300 block of South 1st Street before 8 a.m. APD said that it may take six to eight hours to repair the light pole. No injuries were reported in the crash.

At around 8 a.m., about 1,400 people were affected by the outages, according to Austin Energy's website. Go here for live updates on the outage.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
