AUSTIN - KVUE is the top-rated news among adults 25 to 54 in Austin at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. this November sweeps period, according to The Nielsen Company.
The KVUE 5 p.m. newscast captured 34 percent and the 6 p.m. took 48 percent.
The KVUE Nightbeat at 10 p.m. had 35 percent of all local news viewers.
KVUE Daybreak from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. also increased viewing from last year by 50 percent at 5 a.m. and 27 percent at 6 a.m.
“I’m so proud of the entire KVUE team! We’ve worked so hard to surprise, innovate and engage with our audience across all platforms,” said KVUE President and General Manager Kristie Gonzales. “We are not the same old news anymore, and our vision is to make Central Texas a better place through our storytelling.”
The KVUE Defenders tackled critical issues facing Austin including sex trafficking, why Austin streets and highways are so dangerous for pedestrians and individual consumer problems such as a stolen house in Bastrop County. Our team also spent two years gathering data on sexual inequality within Austin’s tech community, and we told that story at the most relevant time, during an active national conversation about the topic.
KVUE also premiered its first live documentary during November called "Boomtown," and viewers couldn’t get enough of it.
“We broke ground with a new, single-topic format on Austin’s growth called Boomtown. We received immediate, positive feedback from the audience and were the number one trending topic on Twitter when we woke up the next day,” said KVUE News Director Tim Ryan.
