KVUE receives 4 Lone Star Emmys

Some congratulations are in order for the many KVUE staff members who were behind four pieces that earned Lone Star Emmy awards over the weekend.

Whether KVUE's staff is going viral by interviewing a man stuck in a tree during a major flooding event on live TV or by commenting on the Supreme Court's landmark same sex marriage ruling, they're always putting their best work out there.

Here are the the 2016 Emmy award-winning pieces and the people behind them:

Evening newscast:

"Tragedy at the University of Texas" by executive producer Kristen Orsborn, producer Briana Chandler, anchor Tyler Sieswerda and anchor Terri Gruca

Politics and government news series:

"Inspecting the inspectors" by investigative reporter Andy Pierrotti

Reporter for general assignment or spot news:

"Probably the most enthusiastic reporter you've ever seen" for reporter Cori Coffin

Commentary:

"My thoughts -- Commentary on same sex marriage ruling" by anchor Tyler Sieswerda
