On April 20, a day widely recognized as 'National Pot Day,' KVUE asked our Facebook followers about their opinions on whether or not marijuana should be legalized in Texas.
We asked our followers if they believe that marijuana should be legalized for both recreational and medicinal use, only medicinal use or if it should remain illegal. About three hours after the poll was posted, over 1,000 people had voted.
Approximately 89 percent of those who voted said that marijuana should be legalized for both recreational and medicinal use in Texas. 7 percent said that it should be legalized for medicinal use only and 4 percent said that it should remain illegal.
In February, The Texas Tribune and University of Texas conducted a poll to see how many Texas supported legalization of marijuana. Their poll found that 30 percent of Texans support medicinal use only while 23 percent support legalization for small amounts of marijuana and 21 percent support legalization for any amount. Only 17 percent said it should remain illegal.
