Intoxicated mom caused crash with child in backseat, police say

AUSTIN - A woman is accused of driving while intoxicated, causing a collision while her child was in the vehicle with her.

The crash happened on Dec. 4, near Bee Cave. The suspect, identified as Amber Rachelle Alonso, 38, allegedly had her nine-year-old daughter in the back seat when she rear-ended the vehicle directly in front of her, causing that vehicle to collide with another vehicle. 

Police said Alonso had a very strong odor of alcohol emitting from her breath and that her eyes were bloodshot and glassy. 

Alonso has been charged with driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.

Her bond is set at $10,000.

According to online records, she is not currently in the Travis County Jail.
