Man allegedly behind illegal game room operation arrested

HUTTO, TEXAS - Following a SWAT call in Hutto, police have arrested a 53-year-old man who is believed to be connected to several illegal gambling operations in the Austin-area.

On Monday, Austin police's SWAT team responded to a residence in Hutto after a several months-long investigation into several illegal gambling operations throughout the area. At the residence located in the 1200 block of Augusta Bend Drive near Gattis School Road, Chong Pak was arrested. As authorities searched his home, they found "several documents linking Pak to the illegal operation." They also seized $724,736 in cash believed to be income from the illegal game rooms, three vehicles estimated to be valued at $94,550 and about $7,500 in gold and silver ingots.

The Organized Crime Division's Human Trafficking/Vice Unit with the Austin Police Department began the investigation in January before they were able to identify Pak as the primary suspect believed to own the illegal game room operation.

Pak has been charged with money laundering and engaging in organized crime. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison and a $10,000 fine.
