ICE: Murder suspect in A&M student's death in U.S. illegally

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The man who confessed to shooting a Texas A&M student is in the United States illegally, according to the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The agency confirmed on Thursday that Victor Garcia-Loyo, 22, is from Mexico.

ICE put an immigration hold on Garcia-Loyo following his arrest on Sunday. It allows them to pick up Garcia-Loyo if he were to post bond, which is set at $500,000.

Garica-Loyo faces criminal charges of homicide for the death of Maricarmen Quiroz-Octaviano.

The case is currently under investigation. Police have described the shooting as an isolated incident of domestic violence.
